While key restrictions have been implemented over the past few years to ensure greater rider safety, speeds continue to increase. The current speed record for an 800cc bike is held by Casey Stoner on a Ducati Desmosedici GP8—it was set at the 2008 ShangHai China GP race at 347.0km/h ( 215.62 mph).
